Durlassboden Lake

On the shores of the Durlassboden Reservoir there’s the Gerlos Surf and Sail School, the highest located one of Austria.

The artificial lake Durlassboden is located in the municipality of Gerlos in the Zillertal valley and was completed in 1966. The 83 m high dam is an earth dam, the lake is fed by the 31 km long Gerlosbach river, which also feeds the artificial lake of Gmünd. The border line between the Austrian states of Tyrol and Salzburg runs exactly through the Speicher Durlassboden.

The large mountain lake is one of the five reservoirs in the Zillertal and a popular destination in summer. This is where you can enjoy the impressive scenery of the Zillertal Alps and do several sports: Bathing here at 1,400 m a.s.l. is possible near the surf school or at the freely accessible lawn for sunbathing with playground on the left lakeside – water temperatures reach 21 degrees C. If you want to try windsurfing or sailing, you can do so at the Gerlos Surf and Sail School.

A pedalboat, kayak, surfboard and SUP rental completes the offer, and divers will appreciate above all in autumn the underwater sight. When you do a walk round the lake, we recommend you a stop in one of the taverns, e.g. the “Seestüberl”, where you can also purchase day tickets for fishing. The tour round the lake is also extremely popular with cyclists and mountain bikers.

Speicher Durlaßboden

Am Ufer des Stausees befindet sich die Surf- und Segelschule Gerlos, die höchstgelegene Segel- und Surfschule Österreichs.

Der Speicher Durlaßboden liegt in der Gemeinde Gerlos im Zillertal und wurde 1966 fertiggestellt, zusammen mit dem 83 m hohen Erddamm. Gespeist wird der Stausee vom 31 km langen Gerlosbach, der gleichzeitig auch in den Stausee Gmünd fließt. Mitten durch den Durlassboden See verläuft die Grenze zwischen den österreichischen Bundesländern Tirol und Salzburg.

Der große Gebirgssee ist heute einer der fünf Stauseen im Zillertal und ein beliebtes Ausflugsziel in den Sommermonaten. Hier kannst du die beeindruckende Kulisse der Zillertaler Alpen genießen und dich sportlich betätigen. Bademöglichkeiten im See auf 1.400 m Meereshöhe gibt es bei der Segel- & Surfschule am Bootssteg und bei der frei zugänglichen Liegewiese am linken Seeufer mit Spielplatz: Die Wassertemperaturen erreichen im Sommer bis zu 21° C. Wenn du Segeln oder Windsurfen lernen möchte, kannst du dies in der Surf- und Segelschule Gerlos tun.

Ein Verleih für Tretboote, Kajaks, Surfboards und SUP vervollständigt das Angebot, Taucher erwartet im Herbst eine Sichtweite von bis zu 20 m. Bei einer Rundwanderung um den Speicher Durlaßboden gibt es mehrere Einkehrmöglichkeiten, u.a. im “Seestüberl”, in dem auch Fischerei-Tageskarten erworben werden können. Diese Seerunde ist auch bei Mountainbikern sehr beliebt.
