Stumm the idyllic and relax village in Zillertal
One feature that makes Zillertal Valley such a popular ski and snowboard destination is it encompasses such a large area. For those looking to hit the slopes all day long, there are plenty of piste choices, cozy and warm restaurants, training schools, and gorgeous panoramic views. However, not everyone will want to hit the most popular areas. So instead, find some tranquil and quiet hamlets to enjoy. The town of Stumm is an idyllic recreation village just waiting to welcome you to its traditional ways.
Stumm im Zillertal is a small village. Located at an altitude of 650m above sea level. With a population of approximately 1,855. It is one of the first towns you will come across in the Fugen-Kaltenbach region. Also offers an extensive range of leisure activities. From sun terraces to unique recreational excursions, to the charming cafes. So this little village beckons to those interested in a town with rich history, first being documented in the 8th Century. It is the home of the Olympic champion Stephan Eberharter and has a gorgeous castle with popular ground tours.
If traditional is what you are looking for in terms of food, there are tons of traditional inns, cafes, and pubs that cater specifically to Tyrolean standards. The oldest inn in Tyrol, the Landgasthof Linde will indulge you in gourmet meals.
Especially relevant is that Stumm sits right in front of the popular Kaltenbach-Hochzillertal and connects to Hochfugen-Hochzillertal ski resort by way of cable car. There is a free ski bus that can take you from Stumm to the Hochzillertal ski area and if skiing isn’t your thing, there are fast-paced toboggan runs, winter hiking, and horse-drawn carriage rides!
