Stumm the idyllic and relax village in Zillertal

One feature that makes Zillertal Valley such a popular ski and snowboard destination is it encompasses such a large area. For those looking to hit the slopes all day long, there are plenty of piste choices, cozy and warm restaurants, training schools, and gorgeous panoramic views. However, not everyone will wantStumm in Summer to hit the most popular areas. So instead, find some tranquil and quiet hamlets to enjoy. The town of Stumm is an idyllic recreation village just waiting to welcome you to its traditional ways.

Stumm im Zillertal is a small village. Located at an altitude of 650m above sea level. With a population of approximately 1,855. It is one of the first towns you will come across in the Fugen-Kaltenbach region. Also offers an extensive range of leisure activities. From sun terraces to unique recreational excursions, to the charming cafes. So this little village beckons to those interested in a town with rich history, first being documented in the 8th Century. It is the home of the Olympic champion Stephan Eberharter and has a gorgeous castle with popular ground tours.

If traditional is what you are looking for in terms of food, there are tons of traditional inns, cafes, and pubs that cater specifically to Tyrolean standards. The oldest inn in Tyrol, the Landgasthof Linde will indulge you in gourmet meals.

Especially relevant is that Stumm sits right in front of the popular Kaltenbach-Hochzillertal and connects to Hochfugen-Hochzillertal ski resort by way of cable car. There is a free ski bus that can take you from Stumm to the Hochzillertal ski area and if skiing isn’t your thing, there are fast-paced toboggan runs, winter hiking, and horse-drawn carriage rides!

Summer in Stumm

In the summer, visitors can enjoy the Erlebnistherme Zillertal Spa complex, the Bathing World, go-karts, mini-golf, and active tours for mountain bikers and climbers. There are numerous hiking trails for all skill levels and even an 18-hole golf course in Uderns. If you visit during a “second year,” then you will get to see the cultural festival of Stumm Schrei which attracts individuals from around the globe.

New fishing lake in Stumm Zillertal

On 100,000 square meters you’ll have the pleasure to fish for charsrainbow trouts and soon also for carps. There is even a special corner to the north for fly fishermen.

The fishing pond is open daily through Tuesday to Sunday, from 7am to 7pm, and offers equipment rental on site (10€ deposit, 2€ cleaning fee). The day ticket including 1kg (2,2 pounds) fish is available for 18€, additional catches are charged extra. The service on site also includes disembowelment of catches if desired. There is also a small kiosk on the premises for drinks and snacks.

High water quality is a priority, as well as keeping the stock density low. Stocked fish and fodder are obtained from high quality sources. By the way: Here in Stumm there is no fishing license required.
